Preparing for T.I.M.E. Start assebling your tax information now. For your first office visit bring a copy of last year's information as a guideline for this year's return. Use the EB Tax Check-list to compile this years tax documents. If you don't have an EB Tax Personal Finance Folder, use a folder to collect the tax documents. Bring the tax booklet or postcard you received from the Internal Revenue Service. The labels on the tax booklet and postcard will speed up the processing of the return.
Being organized can mean getting a faster return. Contact EB Tax Service at 703-549-6747 to reserve your appointment. Choose a time when you have all the necessary documents. Your return can be done more accurately and in a shorter period of time if all of the information is available at the initial appointment. If you're not sure whether you should be receiving a certain document, contact EB Tax Service to discuss it before coming into the office.
The documents you need for T.I.M.E You will need to bring statements of income that you received during the year. Begin with W-2 forms from all of the employers you have had throughout the year. Employers are required to issue W-2 forms by January 31. If you have not received one, contact the employer. It is better to bring too much information to your tax appointment, than to make a special return trip into the office.
You may have received income that is reported on 1099 forms. These forms report income from interest, dividends, pensions, self-employment, government payments, or the sale of property. It is helpful to bring the actual statements to your scheduled appointment. All forms may not look alike. Be sure to check the bottom of statements that serve as substitute 1099 forms.
